This Privacy Policy explains how MyDaycare ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and stores information when you use the MyDaycare mobile application and associated website (the "Service").

1. Who this applies to

The Service is intended for use by parents/guardians and daycare staff/administrators.

2. Information we collect

We collect and store information provided through the Service, which may include:

Parent/guardian information (name, phone number, and other contact details you provide)
Teacher/staff account information (username and password credentials)
Child information (for daycare operations), such as child name, attendance/activity records, notes, and other daycare-related data entered by authorized adults
Messages and communications entered into the Service
Basic technical information needed to operate the Service (for example, device identifiers or logs necessary for reliability and security)

3. Children’s information (COPPA-style notice)

What COPPA is: COPPA is a U.S. children’s privacy law focused on collecting personal information from children under 13.

MyDaycare stores information about children as entered by parents/guardians or authorized daycare staff. We do not ask children to submit personal information directly through the Service. Child-related information is provided and managed by responsible adults for the purpose of operating daycare functions (e.g., attendance, communication, and records).

4. How we use information

We use information to:

Provide and operate the Service
Authenticate users (parents via SMS verification; staff via username/password)
Enable features like communication, records, and daycare workflows
Maintain security, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues

5. Where data is stored

Data is stored using third-party infrastructure providers, including Vercel (hosting) and Neon (database).

6. Security and encryption

Important disclosure: Information stored in MyDaycare is not encrypted at rest. While we take reasonable measures to protect the Service, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

7. Data sharing

We do not sell your information. We may share information only:

With service providers needed to run the Service (e.g., hosting/database/SMS delivery providers)
To comply with law, legal process, or enforceable governmental request
To protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the Service

8. Analytics and tracking

We do not use third-party analytics tools at this time.

9. Account management and deletion

Users cannot delete their accounts from within the app at this time. Account deletion or changes may be performed by MyDaycare staff at our discretion.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
